FAQs
-
Can I receive pelvic floor therapy when I'm pregnant?
Yes! Once in your 2nd trimester, pelvic floor therapy is safe for you. We will work together to create a plan you feel comfortable with & communicate with your physician as needed.
-
Can I come to my session if I'm on my period?
Yes! If you feel comfortable then you do not need to reschedule or postpone your pelvic floor therapy during your menstrual cycle.
-
What should I wear to my sessions?
Wear clothing you are comfortable moving around in.
-
Do I need an order from my physician?
Nope! You are able to schedule your pelvic floor therapy sessions without an order. I may ask you for one later or ask for your permission to reach out to your physician to communicate on best plan of care for you.
-
Why don't you accept insurance?
Being out-of-network and cash based allows me to tailor your pelvic floor therapy sessions directly toward your unique needs, without having insurance to direct your treatment or plan of care needs.
-
Can I be reimbursed for my payments?
I will create a superbill for you that you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Individuals are typically reimbursed for their pelvic floor therapy sessions with no problems!
-
Do I have to have an internal exam?
No! You have many options when it comes to how we assess your pelvic floor function. This may include an internal exam, an external exam with clothes off from the waist down, or an external exam with clothes on. This also includes a range of hands off, feedback only to hands on assessment. Always tailored to your comfort level. Your continuous consent and comfort are my top priority, throughout every session and with every treatment.
-
Does an internal exam include a speculum?
Never. No. If you consent to an internal exam during therapy, then an exam of muscles and skin surrounding the vulva will be conducted first. This is done with a gloved hand, telling you where you will be touched before being touched. If you consent to an internal vaginal or rectal (dependent on your needs) a gloved and lubricated finger is inserted, with your continuous consent. There’s no speculum, no awkward scooting to the edge of the table and feeling like you’re going to fall off, and a blanket to cover up.
-
Do I have to take all my clothes off during an exam?
You will never be asked to take off all of your clothes. If you consent to an internal exam, you will be unclothed from the waist down (socks optional). You will have a blanket to lay over your lap the entire time. No paper gowns, paper blankets. Your comfort is my top priority, always!
